The Play Index is an internet accessible index of
individual plays in collections and anthologies and selected magazines
held here at Calgary Public Library. Individually published plays and
plays by Shakespeare are not included as these are easily located through
the library catalogue by title keyword. In addition, plays less than one
act are not included.
The Play Index contains over 10,000 play
listings, many of which are not included in standard indexes such as H.W.
Wilson’s Play Index and is updated frequently as new material
arrives in the collection.
The detailed record contains where
possible, editor, translator and adapter information, and notes as
appropriate. For example, if "excerpts" is in the note area,
this means there is frequently only a summary of the play along with some
of the key lines from the play.
All book title references need to be
checked in the library catalogue to determine circulating status and
branch locations. Holds may be placed on all items.
